  1. Introduction

1.1    Smart Sheep Breeder (SSB) is developed at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir, 190025, Jammu and Kashmir, India

1.2   SSB is a Farm Management Information System for efficient farm management and for describing the genetic worth of animals used in the sheep industry. Biometrical Estimated used by SSB are based on BLUP or Best Linear Unbiased Prediction, multiple Selection Indices, Individual Breeding Values and Inbreeding Coefficients. These calculations are made from raw data as provided by the users of this service. The Operators do not oversee or externally audit the collection of this data. Smart Sheep Breeder only provides an estimate of animals’ true genetic merit from that data supplied to the SSB database.

1.3   To obtain full details of the capabilities of Smart Sheep Breeder, any new User desirous of using this tool may contact the developers of this website (escritor005@gmail.com)

  1. Smart Sheep Breeder reports

2.1    Smart Sheep Breeder reports regarding breeding values, Inbreeding Coefficients and subsequently the selection indices will be prepared automatically from time to time from pedigree, performance and phenotypic data supplied by the User. Reports will be available from a secure web interface only to the particular farm user or administrators.

2.2   Because the Operators do not oversee or audit the collection of data, the Operators do not guarantee the accuracy of the information provided in the reports. The FMIS is responsible for the analysis process and for the accurate transfer of data into reporting formats post analysis only.

4.1    The User retains ownership of its data, including pedigree, phenotypic performance and calculated breeding values.

4.2    The User may elect to remove its data from the Smart Sheep Breeder, on a whole flock basis, by giving notice to the Operators. The data will be removed within 180 days from receipt of the notice.

  1. Use of information

(a)  general development of Smart Sheep Breeder, including genetic parameter estimation, fixed effects determination and industry standard indices;

(b)  the genetic evaluation of animals;

(c)   genetic trend development and producing reports;

(d)  research and development projects undertaken in the field of Animal Genetics and Breeding; and

(e)  provision of services to the industry.
